Donald Raj Woolever, MD, FAAFP

Dr. Woolever is the program director at Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency in Augusta, ME.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed his residency at Travis Air Force Base Family Medicine Residency in California. Dr. Woolever also completed the Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. 

What are your greatest professional interests?

-Living and teaching the core values of family medicine; focus on the patient/physician relationship
-Addressing the inherent uncertainties and ambiguities of family medicine; emphasizing continuity and creating positive outpatient learning environments
-Increasing the diversity of family physicians (in training and in practice)
-Wellness: finding freedom IN our work; not freedom from our work

What are your personal hobbies and interests?

Running, hiking, cooking, travel

If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing about graduate medical education, what would it be?

Time and space to focus on the joy of practice: emphasizing the privilege of partnering with patients and investing in continuous healing relationships supported by fully-staffed, high-functioning outpatient continuity clinics
