AFMRD Board Nomination Process
NOMINATIONS ARE CLOSED FOR 2020.
The Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD) is seeking AFMRD residency director members to stand for nomination to the AFMRD Board of Directors. The election of board members will be conducted during the AFMRD Annual Meeting, held in conjunction with the PDW and RPS Residency Education Symposium, on Saturday, April 4, 2020 (10am - 12pm).
At this year’s meeting, the membership will elect the following:
• Three members to serve two-year terms as member-at-large directors.
• One member to serve a two-year term as treasurer.
• One member to serve a one-year term as president-elect, followed by a one-year term as president and a one-year term as immediate past president.
Member-at-large directors - Candidates for the Board of Directors must have been an AFMRD residency director member for at least two years.
Treasurer and President Elect - Candidates for a Board of Director officer position must have, at some point, been elected to a two-year term on the Board.
It is important that the AFMRD Board includes representation from the diverse members it serves. Interested AFMRD residency director members must complete an application and upload the required CV, Statement of Purpose (250-300 words, include reason for standing for nomination and your vision for AFMRD), and photo. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Following approval of the slate of candidates by the AFMRD Board, each candidate’s documents will be posted on a members-only section of the AFMRD website. Once this information is posted, the membership will be notified and encouraged to review the candidates’ information.
As stated in the Rules of Order, there will be no nominations taken from the floor and voting will be by plurality rather than majority -- eliminating repeated run-off voting.
Candidates will have three minutes to introduce themselves and address the membership present at the AFMRD Annual Meeting.
If you are are elected to the board, we ask that you be available to be present for AFMRD Board pictures and New Board Orientation after the AFMRD Annual Meeting, (4:30-6:00 PM).
