What are your greatest professional interests?
Throughout my career, my greatest professional interests have centered on teaching our residents and medical students the joy of practice in family medicine, including incorporating leadership and advocacy for our patients in their professional lives. I’m thrilled to watch the careers of my current and former residents and students evolve and touch the lives of so many others.
What are your personal hobbies and interests?
In true family doc fashion, I love learning new things. Knitting is one of my favorite sedentary activities because I can produce something for my efforts. My husband and I are avid travelers, enjoy cooking together and spending time with our enormous family of 7 children and 14 grandchildren, but just one lucky dog.
If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing about graduate medical education, what would it be?
Just one??? Foremost, I’d change our GME financing structure to ensure a solid, appropriately compensated training environment and workforce to meet the needs of our country.
