Types of Membership

Program Director Membership - $395

Active directors of family medicine residency programs enjoy full membership benefits, including the opportunity to vote at the annual business meeting. In addition, AFMRD Program Director Members are eligible to hold office on the Board of Directors. Program Director Membership is limited to one per program. Each member has one vote.

Additionally, a program may have one person designated as an Associate Program Director.

Associate Program Director Membership - $195

The program director may designate an associate program director, recognizing that the title of this position may vary from program to program. The designated individual's responsibilities should be similar to the expectations one would have of an associate program director. Associate Director Membership is limited to one per program. The Associate Director Member enjoys all member benefits, except the opportunity to vote or hold a position on the Board of Directors. If the associate director meets the criteria for Associate Membership (below), another individual from the program may be designated as the Associate Director Member.

The Associate Membership is not directly linked to a residency program. 

Associate Membership - $195

A former program director or a graduate of the National Institute for Program Director Development is eligible to be an Associate Member. There may be any number of Associate Members per program, based on the above eligibility criteria. The Associate Member enjoys all member benefits, except the opportunity to vote or hold a position on the Board of Directors.

The membership cycle  is by calendar year, January 1 through December 31.
