Diane Reader, RD, LD, CDE

Ms. Reader has been the Manager of Diabetes Professional Training Programs at the International Diabetes Center (IDC), Minneapolis, MN, since January 2000. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Minnesota and completed their Coordinated Undergraduate Program. She worked as a clinical dietitian at Bethesda and United Hospitals in St. Paul before coming to the IDC in 1984. For 15 years she worked as a member of the diabetes team in the Endocrinology department, where she has provided nutrition education and counseling for adults with all types of diabetes and other endocrine problems.

A special area of interest has been Gestational Diabetes. She has written the booklets Gestational Diabetes, Taking Care of Gestational Diabetes and My Food Plan for Gestational Diabetes. She has lectured on this subject extensively and currently is chairperson of a committee that developed Nutrition Practice Guidelines for Gestational Diabetes with the American Dietetic Association. She is active with the American Diabetes Association, the Diabetes Care and Education Practice Group and served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the American Association of Diabetes Educators from 1989-1993.
