Blake Fagan, MD

Blake Fagan completed his undergraduate education at the University of Missouri –Columbia.  He completed medical school at Vanderbilt University SOM in 1998 before finishing his family medicine residency at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville, NC in 2001.  He has been a faculty member at MAHEC since 2001.  During that time he has been the Co-clinical director, assistant residency director and currently is the residency director (since 2008). 

Blake has a passion for medical education.  He is director of the practice management curriculum with an interest in lecturing about personal finance to medical professionals.  He is head of the first year Problem Based Learning curriculum, and, along with several faculty, has speared the active learning environment during didactics including procedure rodeos, use of audience response systems, and the flipped classroom model of teaching. 

Blake’s goal is to produce full-spectrum family physicians who can work anywhere in the U.S., but particulary in small town America.

Blake and his wife Rachel have been married 20 years.  They have 3 children.  Their eldest is learning to drive… all prayers are welcome.
