Maria de Jesus Muñoz, MD
Maria de Jesus Muñoz, MD, is the Associate Program Director at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Family Medicine Residency and has been an AFMRD member for two years. She currently serves on the AFMRD Membership Committee. Dr. Muñoz wanted to serve on the committee because she thought other residency faculty should be aware of all the resources AFMRD has to offer. She feels if you are a Program Director or an Associate Program, AFMRD has tremendous resources. Dr. Muñoz finds the online discussion forum very useful. She enjoys reading the questions that are brought up and finds the answers and suggestions interesting and helpful. She believes learning from colleagues on the discussion forum helps her be a stronger faculty member.
Dr. Muñoz feels the best part of her job is seeing residents develop professionally. She enjoys seeing the transformation from interns, who are a bit afraid and unsure of themselves, to confident third year residents, ready to spread their wings and fly. The hardest part of her job is dealing with difficult residents.
Dr. Muñoz is inspired daily by her family to be the best she can possibly be - everything she does, she does for them. When she's not at work, she loves to spend time with her children and write children's books. .
