Residency Certificates
Teaching and Residency Completion Certificates
The American Academy of Family Physicians is once again offering the family medicine teaching certificates and residency completion certificates.
The teaching certificates serve as an expression of appreciation to those individuals who have volunteered time and effort teaching in a family medicine setting. As in the past, the certificate may be awarded by program directors, medical school deans, department chairs and constituent chapter academies. In order to qualify, an individual must have given at least 75 hours of his or her time teaching in any area of medicine on a voluntary basis in a setting of family medicine education during 2004. This may be through preceptorships, undergraduate departments or divisions or other contact with medical students or residents for the furtherance of family medicine.

The residency completion certificates may be awarded to all residents, identified by the program director, who have or will be completing their family medicine residency training in the year 2005. This certificate is suitable for framing and office display and is additional tangible evidence of the quality and scope of professional training they have received.

If you would like to order teaching certificates or residency completion certificates, please compile a list of teachers or graduates. Enter those names, exactly as you wish for them to appear on the certificate, along with a completion date, shipping address and contact person in an email. Please submit the email to Shanna Eiklenborg, Program Coordinator, at seiklenb@aafp.org. An invoice for $5.00 per certificate will be sent 2-4 weeks after your order is fulfilled and mailed. Orders placed after April 29, 2005, may not arrive in time for presentation ceremonies. In order to speed the delivery process and cut down on the number of duplicates, orders for teaching certificates and/or residency completion certificates will only be accepted via email.
If you have any questions regarding the certificates, please contact Shanna Eiklenborg at (800) 274-2237, ext. 6736.
