Stan Kozakowski, MD

Stan Kozakowski, MD graduated from the New York Medical College in 1981 where he was elected to the AOA Honor Medical Society.  He completed his family practice residency training at the Lancaster General Hospital Family and Community Medicine Residency Program in Lancaster, PA.  Following residency, Dr. Kozakowski entered private practice in rural Warren County, NJ.  He served as a faculty member at the Hunterdon Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program in Flemington, NJ from 1987 – 2011 and was the residency program director from 1996 - 2011.

Dr. Kozakowski is the Director of the Division of Medical Education for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). He has served as the President of the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, President of the Family Medicine Education Consortium, and Chair of the Council of Academic Medicine of Family Medicine. He continues to serve on the steering committee for the national “Preparing the Personal Physician for Practice” (P4) project, and leads the Residency Program Solutions (RPS) consulting services of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Kozakowski represents the AAFP as a liaison to the ACGME Residency Committee for Family Medicine (RC-FM), the RC-FM Length of Training Steering Committee, and the Council on Residency Education for Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Kozakowski’s academic interests include change management facilitation and competency-based education.  He has provided faculty development and consultation services throughout the United States and in the United Arab Emirates.
