Any designated director of a family medicine residency accredited by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) may become a residency director member. Program Director members enjoy full membership benefits, including the opportunity to vote at the annual business meeting. In addition, AFMRD program director members are eligible to hold office on the Board of Directors. Program director membership is limited to one per program. Each member has one vote.
Associate Program Director Membership - $195 ~ Join Now
The program director may designate an associate program director. Recognizing that the title of this position may vary from program to program, the designated individual's responsibilities should be similar to the expectations one would have of an associate program director. The associate director member enjoys all member benefits, except the opportunity to vote or hold a position on the Board of Directors.

Associate members are in addition to the associate director members for each program. Family physicians who meet the following criteria may be associate members.
- Any designated residency director of an accredited Canadian family medicine residency program - $195 - Join Now
- Designated residency directors of developing residency programs actively seeking ACGME accreditation - $195 - Join Now
- Former residency director members of the AFMRD - $195 - Join Now
- Former residency director of AOA accredited family medicine residency - $195 - Join Now
- Any graduate of the National Institute for Program Director Development (NIPDD) - $195 - Join Now
The associate member enjoys all member benefits, except the opportunity to vote or hold a position on the Board of Directors.
International Program Director Membership - $395 ~ Join Now
A program director of an international family medicine residency which is accredited by the ACGME-I is eligible for membership. The international program director member enjoys all member benefits, except the opportunity to vote or hold a position on the Board of Directors.
International Associate Membership - $195 ~ Join Now
A family physician in an existing or developing international family medicine residency program that has not achieved Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education – International (ACGME-I) accreditation may become an international associate member of this organization upon payment of dues. The international associate member has access to web resources, but cannot vote, hold office, serve on committees or participate on the discussion forum.
