Recognition
The AFMRD Program Director Recognition Award is a self-nominated form for recognition for program directors. Qualification for the award is based on tenure, training, scholarly activity, peer development, professional development and advocacy. Three levels of the award allow program directors to be recognized at various stages in their career and development. Cost is $95.
The Family Medicine Resident Award for Scholarship was developed by the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD), the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) to recognize resident scholarly activity and, by doing so, promote family medicine research and scholarly activity. The award certificate is free. Additional certificates for participants in a group project are available for the cost of handling, $4 each.
The Nikitas J. Zervanos Outstanding Program Director Award recognizes a program director who demonstrates leadership and advancement of the specialty, is a mentor to residents and medical students and provides service to the community as well as to the organizations of the family of family medicine.
Nominations are accepted by the AFMRD Board of Directors between August and October 1. Following a review and selection process, the final nominee is sent to the the Commission on Education and the AAFP Board for confirmation.
